Current boss Steve Loomis had even worse things to say: he called Rice “menacing”. Unlike the case of Rice, McDonald’s killer, Chicago Police Officer Jason Van Dyke, has been charged with first degree murder.
When some followers suggested that Tamir’s parents could have been at fault for letting their son play with a toy gun in public, Gabrielle turned her attention to the subject of victim blaming.
Many have criticised the grand jury’s decision not to charge Officer Timothy Loehmann. “The level of violence is abhorrent”, the former Florida governor told ABC News during a campaign stop in Lexington, S.C.
A man yells at authorities during a protest of a grand jury’s decision not to indict two white Cleveland police officers in the fatal shooting of Tamir Rice, a black 12-year-old boy who was playing with a pellet gun, Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, in Cleveland.
“These tragedies that take place, there’s way too many of them, and it doesn’t change my view – because we have those kinds of well-publicized cases of violence – that we should be supportive of law enforcement”, he later added.
In announcing the grand jury decision, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Tim McGinty said it was “indisputable” that the boy was drawing the pistol from his waistband when he was gunned down.

Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and Police Chief Calvin Williams will hold a press conference this afternoon to talk about this week’s events regarding the Tamir Rice case. “So, I think there should be more caution by using the federal government’s power and more focus on trying to rebuild trust from the bottom up”.
