George Lucas Not a Fan of “Retro” ‘Star Wars’ Approach
Lucas apologized for the “very inappropriate analogy” he used in comparing Disney to “white slavers”, a statement he made during a lengthy interview with CBS newsman Charlie Rose.

Here are the five big takeaways from the interview, which aired December 25.
It’s been 32 years since the provisional conclusion of the Star Wars saga, and 10 since a trilogy of prequels put it into hibernation. And I don’t have the control to do that anymore – all I would do is muck everything up. Every time you do something like that, you’re opening the wound again, and it just makes it harder for you. Kasdan wrote clean, powerful scripts for “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi”, and his hand is evident here in the sustaining thread of familial conflict, and revisiting a premise of nobodies and renegades thrust into an elemental conflict between good and evil. “It was one of those things where you don’t expect it to happen, but once I was a dad, it was like a bolt of lightning struck me”. Thankfully, Lucas went no further than that. “I fell into popular movies by accident”. In this story, Han tells a group of bounty hunters to pass on a message to the Irving Boys and Ducain, that both he and Chewie aren’t afraid of them. Instead, Lucas says he wanted to make films like the MI documentarian Michael Moore.
For all their interstellar imagery and fancy hardware, Star Wars films have always hewn closer to mythic fantasy than science fiction, hinging on the sort of archetypes and chance meetings found in common fables, and this one is no different.
If you determine the quality of a film by its “rewatchability” – “the ability to watch a movie repeatedly without becoming nauseated by it”, according to Urban Dictionary – then the new Star Wars flick is doing pretty well for itself.
“I don’t like that”, he said.
HOLLYWOOD-Well I can’t remember the last time I recall a movie drawing in such impressive numbers at the box-office.
Anand Vishal, Head of Sales at Inox, says, “The collections of Star Wars are just about okay”.
“I rarely go out with statements to clarify my feelings, but I feel it is important to make it clear that I am thrilled that Disney has the franchise and is moving it in such exciting directors in film, television and the parks”, Lucas said. This was followed by a nervous laugh, and Rose allowed Lucas to move on. That ended when Disney stepped in with its own vision. Lucas says before laughing and cutting himself short.
So they decided they didn’t want to use those stories.

The petition posted on Change.org is aimed at Disney, the studio behind the blockbuster, calling on executives to organise a special screening for troops to make sure they don’t miss out on the movie event of 2015. “I don’t like that”, Lucas adds.
