Trevone Boykin Apologizes After Arrest for Allegedly Assaulting a Police Officer
ASSOCIATED PRESS TCU starting quarterback Trevone Boykin after appearing in court in San Antonio on Thursday morning for allegedly assaulting a police officer the night before during a brawl outside of a bar.

Boykin was arrested following an altercation at a San Antonio nightclub.
According to police, the incident began when someone recognized him at a San Antonio bar and began heckling him. He said a bar employee was also struck by Boykin. McManus said that he was swinging and struck an officer in the face. “Mr. Boykin was finally subdued after being threatened with a Taser”.
The game would have been the last for Boykin, who shattered school passing records once held by Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton. “He was being heckled and he responded to it, unfortunately”. It was then that Boykin complied with demands to stop resisting, McManus said.
One fan said Boykin should have gotten a second chance, “I think they should let him play”.
A manager at Pat O’Brien’s told ESPN’s Max Olson that security footage already has been turned over to police.
Originally the game was projected to be a high-scoring affair between Oregon’s sixth-ranked offense and TCU’s No. 8 attack with Boykin and Ducks quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. leading the way.
“We are a little shocked this close to game day not to make a mature decision regarding his future, regarding the schools future so close to a big game”, said Shane Hartmann.
Texas Christian University quarterback Trevone Boykin and wide receiver Preston Miller have been suspended from Saturday’s bowl game after violating team rules, head coach Gary Patterson says.
Boykin’s absence should mean more work for senior running back Aaron Green, who gained 1,171 yards and 10 touchdowns this season.
It started with TCU players, including Boykin, allegedly scuffling with patrons.

The Seminoles (10-3), who trailed 21-3 at halftime, tried to rally with two fourth-quarter touchdown passes by Sean Maguire, but it wasn’t enough to overcome five turnovers.
