McManus said the officer had a swollen face, bruises and an abrasion.
The skirmish was set off by Boykin being heckled in the bar about the upcoming game, McManus said.

Texas Christian University quarterback Trevone Boykin is being questioned in connection with an assault on a peace officer overnight Thursday, according to police.
Trevone Boykin was arrested early Thursday morning in San Antonio, according to News 4 San Antonio.
Boykin is facing charges of assault of a police officer, resisting arrest and public intoxication. Officers threatened to tase Boykin before he finally subsided. “He was heckled and he responded to it”.
Bike officers came upon Boykin as he was taking swings when he indiscriminately hit an officer.
TCU coach Gary Patterson issued a statement saying: “Trevone Boykin and [junior wide receiver] Preston Miller have been suspended for Saturday’s game due to a violation of team rules”.
Boykin was released on $5,000 bond.
A manager at Pat O’Brien’s told ESPN’s Max Olson that security footage already has been turned over to police.
Ward threw for 238 yards and ran for 67 yards as Houston (13-1) scored the most points allowed by No. 9 Florida State (10-3) this season.
