Following a controversial Facebook post Superior Mayor Bruce Hagen has agreed to fly back from vacation to meet with regional Muslin community leaders on Saturday.
Hagen has resisted calls for him to resign over his comments.
WKOW reports Hagen said he’ll stay in the city for business as long as needed.
Several city councilors are also expected to attend the event.
The group was invited by Ibrahim Al-Qudah, the president of the ICTP. He said he hopes the event will “get rid of any confusion and misunderstanding”. In his letter, Hagen says his calling Obama a Muslim was “a poor choice of words in a moment of anger”.
WDIO-TV (http://bit.ly/1OvyLJK ) reports Hagen is on vacation. “The Muslim communities across the world do not embrace what is occurring by these terrorists, and I was wrong to include them in my comment”. “We wish to see this deplorable situation made right”.

He said the point of the dinner with Hagen is to highlight that people of different faiths all belong to one community, and to address differences and attempt to resolve conflict through conversation.
