The daughter of legendary singer Nat King Cole had a string of hits during her career, including “This Will Be” and a virtual duet of “Unforgettable” recorded with her late father.
Natalie continued to tour up until her death and was forced to cancel a scheduled gig in February. In 2009, she received a kidney transplant from a deceased fan.
She died in a Los Angeles hospital.
Natalie struggled with substance abuse and was plagued with health problems, suffering from liver disease in 2008.
In 1987 she re-emerged as a pop artist with the 1987 album, Everlasting, and her cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Pink Cadillac”.
Natalie famously battled with drug addiction after the tragic loss of several family members – including her father, mother and sister, Cookie. She did eventually enter rehab in 1983.
She also disclosed that she was arrested in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for possession of heroin in 1975.
