Man City’s Kompany out for at least a month: Pellegrini

So while City finally managed to keep a clean sheet without injured captain Vincent Kompany ruled out for up to four weeks by manager Manuel Pellegrini after the game they have not won away in their last six attempts. But for me the best thing from the last game at Leicester (0-0) was not the clean sheet but that we continued playing the same way as we had done in the previous two matches.

Fears Victoria fires will spread come New Year’s Eve
Victoria Emergency Management Commissioner Craig Lapsley commended the residents for following the evacuation warning. In 2009, Victoria witnessed Australia’s worst ever bushfire disaster, which has since been dubbed Black Saturday.

“I think we showed a very good performance and after the Liverpool defeat, we’ve played so well”.

Australia thrash Windies to seal series at MCG
Brathwaite was out for 59, caught and bowled by offspinner Nathan Lyon (3-40) off the last ball before lunch. Both openers were gone by the 11th over as the Windies bowlers enjoyed their best spells of the series.

Leicester City again showed they could mix it with the big guns, going level on points with Premier League leaders Arsenal after drawing 0-0 with title rivals Manchester City on Tuesday.

16 injured in NYE Dubai hotel inferno
The hashtag #NeedanAddress trended on Twitter overnight as Dubai residents offered to open their homes to evacuated hotel guests. On New Year’s two years ago, Dubai made global headlines when the city broke the world record for largest fireworks display.

“With the amount of points we have at this moment, it is not good to fight for the title in a normal season”.

“Vincent has an injury, second degree on his calf so we’ll see how many weeks he will be out”, Pellegrini told reporters after the Leicester game. They had some small problems in the last game.

Manchester City will be looking to close the gap on top spot when they travel to Vicarage Road to take on Watford on Saturday.

City have failed to win at an opposition stadium since Crystal Palace were defeated by a late Kelechi Iheanacho strike on September 12th. “But we’re in a good position and the two teams above us (Arsenal and Leicester) deserve to be there”.

The Chilean said: “No, really I think the squad is complete”.

“We didn’t win against Arsenal but we didn’t play a bad game”.

Ranieri admitted he did not expect to reach his goal so soon but now wants his men to eclipse it in the second half of the season.

But City boss Pellegrini said he would resist the temptation to sign a new centre-back, despite ongoing doubts over the reliability of £42million defender Eliaquim Mangala. It is just one point away from manager Claudio Ranieri’s initial target of 40 points with its supporters beginning to dream of a genuine title challenge.

Asked if he is palnning a New Year recruitment drive, Pellegrini replied: “No, because really I think the squad is complete”.
