Ben Carson’s campaign manager, spokesman quit campaign
According to sources in the GOP candidate’s campaign, Barry Bennett, Carson’s campaign manager, and Doug Watts, his communications director handed in their notice on Thursday while it is only less than five weeks before the nation’s first voting in the Iowa caucuses.

So Armstrong arranged those interviews with Dr. Carson and you guys didn’t know that he was thinking about a shake up or that those interviews had been set up? “We are refining some operational practices and streamlining some staff assignments to more aptly match the tasks ahead, but my senior team remains in place with my full confidence, and they will continue to execute our campaign plan”.
Despite the internal struggles Carson raised a whopping $23 million this quarter, beating Ted Cruz’s $20 million. “I am looking forward to serving Dr. Carson in the best way I can and am honored he’s placed his faith in me to help his campaign”. Bennett was Carson’s campaign manager. “I think he should listen to a multitude of advisers, inside the campaign and outside the campaign”.
Reached at his northern Virginia office on Thursday, Williams said he heard about the shake-up on Twitter, not from Carson.
In a statement released after the resignations were made public, Carson’s campaign said they were announcing “enhancements”, naming Major General Bob Dees as campaign chairman and Ed Brookover as campaign manager. “The team could be decimated”, Bennett told The Hill newspaper.
Throughout Carson’s campaign, conflicting messages have come from Armstrong and the campaign, and the campaign acknowledges that Armstrong created a huge problem.
Bennett told the Republican presidential candidate on the call he would not support that decision and told Carson “it’s time for me to go”.
“Which is not … confrontational and, you know, attacking other people, but who does put out the truth and is transparent, and is reasonable to people”, he said. Carson briefly led in the polls, but has been on a steady decline.
“His campaign has to do a better job at preparing him”, Williams said in an interview with CNN. It does suggests that Carson is engaged in a for-profit venture.

Carson’s outsider status seemed to give him an advantage in the 2016 race. “I’m sure Barry resigned because he wanted total control and he wasn’t going to have that”, Williams said. “It’s not only on him, it’s on them”.
