NHL Winter Classic: 5 storylines from Canadiens-Bruins outdoor game
Boston Bruins’ Brad Marchand walks off the ice after practice on the outdoor rink at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, where the Bruins will play the Montreal Canadiens in the NHL Winter Classic hockey game on New Year’s Day.

“You’re always looking for chemistry”, said Therrien.
There are statistics that illustrate Gallagher’s effect on the Montreal offence. Gallagher’s return gave the Canadiens a boost and led to their third goal.
Needless to say, Montreal fans have to be pretty happy with how the New Year’s Day event started for their team. Boston captain Zdeno Chara was like a New England pass rusher when he sacked Montreal’s Brendan Gallagher in the first period.
“I missed seeing him out there, getting banged around and bouncing up with a smile though his bloody teeth”, said Pacioretty. I’m just trying to do anything I can to help the team right now.
Building on the success of the Winter Classic, numerous other outdoor hockey games have taken place, with such enticing names as the Heritage Classic and the Stadium Series.
That look-at-me attitude is partially why the boos we referenced were most visceral when Subban was introduced to 67,246 people before the game. Yeah, it’s hard to maintain the ice, to predict the weather. Paul Byron scored off of a Rebound from Rask. It’s easy for the winning team to love everything about the game, but the fact is when you look at the whole pre-game show, the national anthem, the fireworks, the plane flying over, family and friends there, it’s great.
“You could feel it right away, the intensity of the rivalry”, Byron said. As Winter Classic games go, Friday was one-sided.
Condon shut out the Bruins for more than two periods, gloving Ryan Spooner’s wrist shot with 0.1 seconds left in the second period to protect a 3-0 lead. Since the Price injury, the Canadiens are posting a below-average.
“I think about his dad every time he made a save and probably the expression on his face when he’s watching”, Pacioretty said after the win. “Anything can happen. So you’ve just to make sure you’re prepared for the opportunities you get”.
Helping out the visitors may not have been Brady’s intention, but Condon was clearly inspired by playing in his home region and everything that went along with it, including No. 12’s helping hand. He said he took the occasional glance at the crowd, but mainly focused on making the next save. The Bruins are wearing the uniforms from their inaugural season of 1924-25 (the first to feature a U.S.-based team in the NHL), the difference between what Boston wearing this afternoon and what they wore 90 years ago?
“He certainly deserves to get the start the way that he played his last two games”.

So far this season, Marchand has been the Bruins leading scorer with 26 points (15 goals and 11 assists in 34 games).
