Johnny Manziel in concussion program, likely to miss finale
“That’s part of the position”. It is a lifestyle. It’s a lifestyle. I’ve talked about that a bunch. The quarterback (Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger) is playing at an elite level.

“You need to eat, sleep and breathe football”, Browns offensive coordinator John DeFilippo said disapprovingly.
When asked if Manziel is the long-term answer at quarterback for the Browns, Pettine hedged on his answer. Without question California’s Jared Goff is the choice I would make!
Pettine said accountability off the field is important.
“You look at the degree of an incident, so it would be hard for me to sit here and say, ‘We have a zero-tolerance policy, ‘ ” Pettine said at the time.
“Here is a guy that has an National Football League skill set, he’s very talented, if you spend some time with him, he’s a likable guy, you root for him”, Pettine, via Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.
“I’m competitive – just like our players, we want them to be competitive, prideful”. “I constantly preach to the players: Worry about things you have control over and what’s going to happen”.
Mike Pettine might be down to his final days as Browns coach, but he sure isn’t acting, or talking, like it. “That foundation is here, but we’ll just have to wait and see how that plays out”. Now it is Austin Davis’s turn.
All that running around – on the field – caught up with Johnny Manziel. He was 10 of 19 for 88 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while running for 106 yards on nine carries. Two years ago the Steelers rallied from a 2-6 start to the cusp of the postseason, only to miss out when Kansas City’s Ryan Succop missed a 41-yard field goal at the end of regulation and the Chiefs saw San Diego win – and grab a playoff berth in overtime. He started against the Cincinnati Bengals, completing 65.8 percent of his passes for 230 yards, an interception, and no touchdowns in what turned out to be a blowout loss. To me, that is progress. “There is a lot of room for improvement”. We feel the offense is in good hands, and defensively we know what lays ahead of us.
Browns quarterback Josh McCown, who suffered a concussion on the season’s opening drive, knew Manziel had taken a beating.
“I’m competitive”, Pettine said. “You have to be able to send them off with a plan and check in every so often”.

“When the desire is there to want to get it changed and want to be better, hopefully, you’ll have a good result with that player”. Manziel passed for career-high 372 yards in previous meeting against Steelers…. He’s being checked out by the team but will start Sunday if’s he’s cleared.
