Christian McCaffrey leads Stanford to 45-16 Rose Bowl win against Iowa
Christian McCaffrey, who was second in Heisman voting, breaks the Rose Bowl all-purpose yards record in a rout.

That would suggest, basically, that Iowa got lucky. “It’s been a long time since they’ve been to the Rose Bowl, and we have friends who spent a lot of money to get out there”.
The Buckeyes (12-1) were left out of the College Football Playoff thanks to an inopportune loss.
The Stanford football team is whipping Iowa’s butt in the Rose Bowl, 35-0. Iowa also missed a PAT, adding to its woes.
Coach Kirk Ferentz felt that Stanford had plenty do with that, labeling the Cardinal performance “tremendous”.
Not surprisingly, McCaffrey was named the game’s most valuable offensive player.
“We know that McCaffrey is the best in the country and we have to cover him”, Beathard said.
It does, however, factor heavily into the definition of the Hawkeyes as a program that struggles to compete on the big stage.
Stanford didn’t do itself any favors losing 16-6 in the first game of the season to Northwestern. Before losing the Big Ten championship game, Iowa had its first undefeated regular season since 1922….
Tennessee used a stout defense and their powerful rushing attack, which was second best in the Southeastern Conference, to close out the season with a sixth straight win in front of 53,202 fans, majority wearing Volunteers colors.
“It’s impossible to duplicate that, ” Ferentz said. J.T. Barrett passed for 211 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 96 yards as Ohio State opened a 28-7 lead in the second quarter, the largest deficit Notre Dame faced this season.
“It’s one of those things when you talk about it everybody says, “No, we can’t do that, ‘” Shaw said”. We had ample opportunity after that to play. “He had it going and it was tough for us to stop it”.
A first-half record 35 points and Christian McCaffrey’s record 368 all-purpose yards helped power Stanford to a 45-16 victory Friday over Iowa in the 102nd Rose Bowl Game. He also set a Stanford single-season rushing record with 2,109 yards. McCaffrey later returned a punt 66 yards for a score.
Despite seven sacks, Beathard completed 21 of 33 passes for 239 yards.
It was no surprise that the Stanford band piled on, clowning Iowa fans at halftime with a skit that included references to a dating website and people dressed as cows – whatever that means.
A dream season ended with a nightmare Friday for the Iowa football team. Indeed, some pundits are suggesting that the team that expands its plays successfully at the right times is likely to be the one that comes out on top today.
That 10 yards a pop average doesn’t feel exaggerated by 1-2 big runs (although he did bust some big gains on the Iowa defense, too) – it really did feel like every time he got the ball, he simply teleported at least 10 yards down the field, leaving a trail of Iowa defenders juked out of their socks in his wake. Then they identified various areas that required immediate improvement. Well, it failed. Stanford was able to control the line of scrimmage and run and pass with aplomb.
For 13 games, it happened.

Stanford’s unrelenting offensive attack came from all angles, but it would be an understatement to say that the 2015 Heisman Trophy runner-up was the driving force.
