CES 2016 Dates And Highlights: What To Expect
Big companies like Sony and HTC are developing various VR gadgets and the CES 2016 will definitely be a great opportunity for these companies to unveil their VR techs. But unlike the cavalcade of new televisions, cameras and phones announced at CES, the automotive news tends to be about new technologies and new features we will soon see on the road.

As well as a headline sponsor in the shape of Ford, Audi will be demonstrating its production-ready semi-autonomous auto, Volkswagen will be showing off a plug-in electric reimagining of its iconic Microbus campervan and BMW is expected to raise the roof on a convertible version of its ultra high-tech i8 environmentally-friendly supercar.
As part of a new wave of California-based electric automakers, Faraday Future will launch its first-ever concept auto at this year’s CES. Following Huawei’s recent pronouncements surrounding its improvements in battery life, expect the Chinese firm to have some exciting demos on show, alongside a whole range of start-ups and smaller companies looking to show off their innovations.
The biggest change to CES came in the late 1990s and early 2000s, when the granddaddy of PC shows, Comdex, began to falter.
Other exhibits will highlight robotics, smart-home technology and high-end home-entertainment systems. It has also been stated that “bags and backpacks with many pockets are not helpful”. That doesn’t mean that the show will be a disappointment – the new Mercedes E Class, one of the marque’s most important cars, will be making its global debut, as will the new Porsche 911 Turbo. Delphi will still be at the show in 2016, but now there are also 11 carmakers in attendance, from Audi to VW, and all have innovations aplenty.
Cloud will play a big in much of the new technology being introduced in 2016.
2016 is being called the year in which wearables “disappear”, becoming more fashionable and less clunky.
There is no confirmation yet as to the exact style of the auto and it’s quite possible that it could turn out to be a more US-friendly SUV or crossover concept but we do know that it’s both electric and potentially revolutionary in that respect.
The CES 2016 is expected to feature a better and more enhanced security mechanism.
The tie-up would allow Ford to save time and money on autonomous technology development, and allow Google to save time and money on building vehicles.
