Netflix likely to make India debut announcement at CES 2016

There have been reports about Netflix entering India for last six months but there has been nothing substantial work on the ground till date. Seems like the video-streaming giant that is moving to other countries worldwide wants to take advantage of high-speed 4G LTE services that will replace existing 3G connections on mobile devices. Netflix, which features both movies and TV shows, charges its service to users at $8.99 (roughly Rs. 600) per month. The official launch of Netflix will put an end to piggybackers who make use of third party tools to obtain access to the services.

With growing demand, there are many players in the market offering many types of VoD services like DTH Service Providers (Tata Sky, Dish TV and Videocon DTH), Media Companies (Hotstar, Eros Now and BigFlix), Independent VoD companies (Spuul and Muvi) and Video on demand on cable TV (QWIK entertainment). When it launches officially, it might offer subscriptions at a cheaper rate for competing with the rivals. Netflix Inc will focus on developing its own content next year and almost double the number of original shows to 31 from 16, its chief content officer Ted Sarandos said recently. It also has its original content such as award-winning House of Cards, Orange Is the New Black, and the movie Beasts of No Nation.
