Raheel highlighted that the armed forces had been rendering great sacrifices for the cause of peace and stability in the country.
The new year will be the year when terrorism will end in Pakistan, Dawn online quoted General Sharif as saying on Friday.
Pakistan’s Army Chief General Raheel Sharif has approved the death sentence of nine terrorists convicted by military courts.
“We will be able to break the webs of curses like terrorism, crime and corruption with the support and backing of the entire nation whereby paving the way towards dispensation of justice and achieving lasting peace”, he added.
The convicted terrorists were involved in attacks on Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Headquarters in Multan, Parade Lane and offices of the law enforcers.
Among the convicts Mohammed Ghauri was an active member of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taleban Pakistan (TTP) and TTP media cell in-charge.
The sentenced militants included Muhammad Ghauri, a member of the Pakistani Taliban, linked to an attack on a mosque for troops in Rawalpindi, around 15 kilometers away from the capital Islamabad. He was involved in attack on Inter Services Intelligence Headquarters, Multan, which resulted in death of 7 individuals besides injuring 72 others.
Muhammad Imran was an active member of TTP, who was involved in terrorist acts and attacking Law Enforcement Agencies which caused death / injuries to civilians and soldiers.
Adbul Rauf Gujjar, son of Rehmat Ali, Muhammad Hashim, son of Muhammad Abdullah, Sulaman, son of Boneer, Shafqat Farooqi, son of Malik Liaqat Ali and Muhammad Farhan, son of Muhammad Rafique were active member of Sepah-e-Sahaba. They were involved in killing of civilians at Lahore. He was tried on seven charges and awarded death sentence.

Zarb-e-Azb does seem to have had a positive impact on militant attacks, which have been down overall, with some shocking exceptions, such as the December massacre by Taleban gunmen of more than 130 children at an army school in Peshawar.
