Florida woman fatally shoots ‘intruder’ who turns out to be her daughter
It was a deadly case of mistaken identity.

A woman in St. Cloud, Florida, woke up just before midnight Tuesday and fired a shot at a person she thought had broken into her home. Campbell fired a single shot that fatally struck Doby in the chest. Claude Campbell Jr. placed a phone call to 911 on Tuesday, December 28, after his step-daughter, 27-year-old Ashley Doby, “passed out”. Roberts didn’t reside in the house and stated her daughter Ashley Doby have been visiting from New York, The Orlando Sentinel noted.
Doby had been visiting for the holidays when the shooting took place, police said Wednesday.
The investigation is ongoing and police say at this time, the homeowner’s story is consistent with physical evidence.

Roberts said she didn’t know if the daughter lived in the same house with her mother.
Police said the woman was also taken to the hospital for treatment.
The State Attorney’s Office will review the shooting to decide if charges should be filed after the St. Cloud Police Department has completed its investigation.
A 911 call was put by Campbell on Wednesday as his stepdaughter put unconscious.
The chief told WESH 2 News he consulted with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. “I’ve been here for 14 years, and nothing like this has ever happened”.

“That’s really shocking, actually”, said retiree Harry Morris, 80. He is now on administrative leave for family medical reasons.
