Leonard Fournette: Fournette, most talked about player in 2016?
The offensive coordinator came down from the booth and coached from the sidelines on Tuesday night, which was something he had not done all season.

Texas Tech put all of its effort into preventing Fournette from breaking off big plays during the beginning of the game. But last night, even Tech’s all-American Le’Raven Clark was made to look second-rate…by a true freshman, LSU defensive end Arden Key.
Fournette pummeled Texas Tech defenders and went over 200 yards for the fourth time this season. The PAT reduced LSU’s lead to 21-20 with 10:28 left in the third quarter.
LSU rushed for 384 yards and a 9.6 average on 40 attempts, with Fournette doing the most damage.
LSU running back Darrel Williams rushed for a 2-yard TD. Mahomes finished 28-of-56 passing for 370 yards and four touchdowns. “I wouldn’t call it routine because he is not a routine runner, he’s a special back”.
“I got out of the game”, Fournette said. No SEC running back has ever reached the 2K mark. Fournette’s 162.8 yards per game lead the nation.
“There may be a piece of his personal game motivation like that”, Miles said prior to the game, according to the Advocate’s Marcus Rodrigue. “Yeah, I think we can win a championship”. The Spiders have defeated Wake Forest, California and UNI – who have combined for a record of 25-10.
Mahomes wasn’t too shabby himself.
The Tigers were able to finish with 638 total yards against the Red Raiders. Harris hit Dupre for an 11-yard completion before Fournette bulldozed in from the 2-yard line for a touchdown and 7-0 lead with 11:47 to go in the opening period. He is the 12th quarterback in NCAA history to accomplish the milestone.
The sophomore Heisman hopeful, whose individual-award opportunities faded during a three-game Novemeber losing streak, set LSU’s bowl scoring record with 30 points while the Tigers total of 56 was its all-time high in the postseason. Jakeem Grant set a Texas Tech bowl record with three receiving touchdowns.
In the meantime, if a season contains as much drama as this one and the Tigers are a 10-win team, perhaps fans should step away from the ledge. “Made a bunch of plays running around for his life”.
Though shaky in spurts, Harris was solid enough as a counterpart. Harris finished with 13 for 22 for 254 yards.
The Red Raiders completed an eight-play, 61-yard touchdown drive that ended in Grant’s third touchdown of the game. And I think he really gets that. “Well, I shouldn’t say extremely well, but he took a stride certainly”.
“So being physical today, we won the game”.
The offseason has officially begun for LSU, who will enter 2016 with plenty of expectations as Fournette returns for his junior year.
The Tigers first game of the season against their weakest opponent, McNeese State, was cancelled due to the weather conditions. Texas Tech has a 5-7 record for the year.

NOTES: RB Leonard Fournette broke the LSU record for rushing touchdowns in a season with 22…. “That’s all we teach”, said Jefferson. “You can see that the program itself is being manned by real quality young men and that they’re looking for the kind of success they had tonight in a bountiful way”. But if the second half of the Texas Bowl is a sign of what this team is capable of doing, it would be foolish to write them off.
