At least 129 Palestinians have died in the same period, of whom 89 Israel says were attacking or attempting to attack Israelis.

Israeli forces have killed two Palestinian brothers near the West Bank city of Nablus. Jamil Dawoud, 49, said he was traveling in the auto behind the one of the man shot, at the checkpoint where soldiers were inspecting the vehicles and that the soldier who opened fire appeared to misunderstand what had happened. No Israelis were injured in this attack either.
Earlier in the day, a 26-yearold Palestinian man was shot and killed by police in Jerusalem’s Tzahal Square opposite the Old City, after charging two officers with a knife.
The soldier injured in the car-ramming was 20 years of age and sustained light wounds before being taken to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, according to Israeli media. The man aroused the suspicion on police while walking through the Muristan in the Christian Quarter.
The military identified one of the returned dead as Issam Thawabta, who was killed in November after he fatally stabbed Hadar Buchris, a 21-year-old Israeli woman, at the Gush Etzion junction south of Jerusalem.
“A private security guard who saw the event overpowered the terrorist until police arrived at the scene”.
He noted that the Interior Ministry, not the Israel Police, is charged with returning terrorists’ corpses.
Also stoking the violence has been Muslim opposition to stepped-up Israeli access to Jerusalem’s al Aqsa mosque complex, which many Jews revere as a vestige of their biblical temples.
