Dame Maggie Smith reveals she still hasn’t watched any of Downton Abbey

Dame Maggie Smith may have played the Dowager Countess in Downton Abbey for six series – but she has yet to find time to actually watch it.
According to Independent, the decision came after Maggie Smith declared she will no longer be a part of the show.
The 81-year-old actress, who starred as Dowager Countess Lady Violet Crawley from series one, admits she hasn’t tuned into a single episode of the hugely popular show. “And I’m going to do all sorts of things now, ’cause I’m free!”
Neame additionally pointed out that all of them really feel blessed and no one regrets its ending.
“These days, we have relationships that are forged, consummated and brought to an end within 24 hours. We have a final season that’s as strong as the first because we quit while we were ahead”. She’s given us so much on that show.
The last of “Downtown Abbey” this year was featured on ITV.
Although viewing figures were generally low on Christmas Day, Downton Abbey was watched by 6.6 million viewers – beating BBC One soap EastEnders.
The Star reported that Brendan Coyle, the actor who plays Mr. Bates on the series, said, “For starters, you get recognized everywhere”. The craziest encounter was Marrakesh.

Downton Abbey will premiere season 6 in the USA on January 3 at 9 p.m. EST.
