Coker’s huge game helps lift Alabama into national championship game
The Crimson Tide are coming off of an extremely impressive 38-0 shutout performance against Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl, where they completely dominated the Spartans for a full 60 minutes and shut out Connor Cook and the Spartan offense. However, he was sacked five times and intercepted twice. Cook had a record of 34-4 in the past three seasons with 70 touchdown passes and only 19 interceptions in 1,113 attempts, and he’s a projected first-round National Football League draft pick. He acts as if he thinks the serious business of big-time college football is actually fun-and that may be his greatest accomplishment yet. First of all, they have a good front. Now he’s looking ahead to the national championship game against Clemson. Clemson defeated Oklahoma 37-17.

The Crimson Tide traditionally do not have problems with teams like Michigan State.
The national championship game will be played at 8:30 p.m. ET on January 11 in Glendale, Ariz., and broadcast on ESPN. As with the majority of the Alabama football coach’s public displays of emotion that vaguely resemble joy, it was brief and pointed and wracked with awkwardness, which was also how Saban’s brief celebratory “dance” with the Alabama marching band came across a short time later. He’s trying to lead Clemson to its first championship since 1981.
Center Jay Guillermo said he could see a change in the Sooners’ body language after that third quarter drive.
The win gave Alabama a better-than-anticipated 10-3 nonconference record as it heads into league play Thursday at Ole Miss. They’re at their best when they’re a reflection of Saban, 64, who was hired in 2007 and hasn’t spent a day since telling fans they should have higher expectations. That’s a bad sign for any opponent. And even with what the Seminoles and Tigers have done in recent years, the ACC still believes it doesn’t get the level of respect that’s afforded to some of the other leagues – namely the Southeastern Conference, which just happens to be providing Clemson’s final obstacle this season in Alabama. Heading into another game as a big favorite against the Big Ten champions, the Tide players said all week that the focus was better and their attitude more serious. Michigan State claimed it was ready for a 15-round brawl, but the Tide knocked out the Spartans early on Thursday night like a nonconference cupcake. “It makes things easier on me”. He would have gotten the ball more, but when Coker counted nine men in the box on Alabama’s run-pass option plays, the quarterback’s mandate was to throw-usually a bubble screen. Ryan Anderson and Tim Williams don’t draw the headlines like A’Shawn Robinson and Jarran Reed, but they can train wreck an offense as evidence of their play Thursday. He was accurate, he was confident, he played better than he had all season. No. I’m not insane.
Both of Coker’s touchdowns went to Ridley, who now has seven TD catches on the year. The Sooners put together a 10-play, 75-yard march, capped by running back Samaje Perine’s 1-yard run.
“We were in position a lot of times, but we missed tackles”, Oklahoma defensive end Eric Striker said. We were still in a quarterback situation, rotating guys and figuring that out. When you are a defensive team, and can run the ball, it allows your skill guys and your quarterback to develop as the season progresses.
So Saban has helped rehabilitate Kiffin’s career. “This is a tough one to swallow, I mean I’m proud of this year and I encompass the mantra of the year and every year Dantonio has done for this team, for the Spartan community. And (running backs coach) Tony Elliott has been a big part of that”. “So we’ll take care of it. We’ll have a practice Monday called “No Turnover Monday” and we’ll see where that goes”.

With glasses perched at the end of his nose, the 64-year-old coach looked at a stat sheet and saw quarterback numbers that may have surprised some, but not the victor of four national titles on the verge of a potential fifth.
