Leicester players deserve champagne for reaching 40 points – Ranieri
“I would encourage him to stay, but it’s not for me to do that”, Pearson told BBC Radio 5 live’s Sportsweek.

The pair have scored a total of 28 goals this season, with Leicester ending a year ago level on 39 points with Arsenal at the top of the English Premier League.
This was possibly the most frustrating afternoon Claudio Ranieri’s side have endured this season.
Raheem Sterling was a danger in the first half for City at King Power Stadium, forcing Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel into three saves, while striker Jamie Vardy wasted the home side’s best chance by blazing over the bar when clear on goal.
Bournemouth were undeterred by that moment of magic and Josh King should have put them ahead moment later when he headed tamely wide after Stanislas hooked a cross into the six-yard box.
Both teams picked up 10 points from 15 available in December to edge them ever closer to their respective goals, which would have been similar at the start of the season but could not be more different at the halfway stage.
The Italian said in several national newspapers: “Nobody goes from Leicester City”.
Premier League relegation Jan 1: 1-16 Aston Villa; 1-7 Sunderland; 10-11 Newcastle; 11-4 Norwich; 7-2 Bournemouth; 4-1 Swansea; 6-1 West Brom; 40-1 Watford; 40-1 West Ham; 50-1 Southampton; 66-1 Chelsea; 80-1 Stoke.
Leicester really should have taken the lead in the 27th minute but the country’s joint-highest scorer Vardy somehow fluffed the chance.
Talking to Leicester City’s official website following the frustrating clash at the King Power Stadium, Ranieri was clearly disappointed with only taking one point from Eddie Howe’s men.
Neither team was able to stamp any prolonged authority on the game and it was typical when Foxes skipper Wes Morgan missed another sitter, volleying over from a far post corner.
Referee Andre Marriner made the decision to send off Francis in the 57th minute.

Bournemouth defender Simon Francis was sent off in the second half after conceding a penalty, only for Mahrez to see his spot-kick kept out by Boruc. Simon has come from the side, got a clear touch on the ball and it is not a penalty, or a free-kick, in my opinion. Francis saw red, but Mahrez’s penalty was at a good height for Artur Boruc and the Polish worldwide pushed it away.
