Armed anti-government protesters have taken over a building in a federal wildlife refuge in OR, accusing officials of unfairly punishing ranchers who refused to sell their land.

The Malheur National Wildlife refuge building, federal property managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, was closed for the holiday weekend.
Cliven Bundy released a statement on Facebook calling on the Hammonds not to bow down to U.S. authorities and rather, request “protective custody” from Harney County jail.
In a video, Ammon Bundy said he wanted to reach out to people across the United States to join the movement “for the people”.
In a video posted to Bundy Ranch’s Facebook page, said the group will leave the area “when the people of Harney County can use these lands without being put in fear”.
“The facility has been the tool to do all the tyranny that has been placed upon the Hammonds”, the Oregonian quoted Ammon Bundy as saying.
One of them, Ryan Bundy, told a reporter that the group was willing to kill and be killed to maintain its position.
However a judge later ruled their sentences – three months for the father, one year for the son – were too short and ordered them back to prison.
The prosecutor said witnesses saw the Hammonds illegally slaughter a herd of deer on public land. “We have a slew of other federal agencies that are doing the exact same thing and they are doing it by controlling the land and the resources because they know where wealth generates from”.
Interestingly enough, it seems the Hammond’s don’t want the militia’s help.
In the past few weeks, the Bundy’s have taken to social media to organise opposition to the government case against the Hammonds.

“We will be here as long as it takes”, Bundy said.
I’d have the local sheriff simply block access in or out to deny them resupply, then cut the utilities, and let what the Russians call “General Winter” do the rest.
Numerous marchers later congregated at the Harney County Fairgrounds, before some diverted to the wildlife refuge.

It is unclear whether the militia occupying the building is armed, however the local sheriff Dave Ward told people to stay away until authorities defuse the situation. The fire charred just under 140 acres.
