Alabama knocks out Michigan State, 38-0, in Cotton Bowl
And so it was, and the result was Alabama’s 38-0 blowout of No. 3 Michigan State. It burned Alabama so badly to be beaten in the College Football Playoff semifinals previous year that the Crimson Tide was determined to handle its business differently this time around. Bama’s dominance on defense made it possible to rest Henry, so expect him to be ready for a heavy workload in the title game. The Spartans (12-2) won the Big Ten and reached the playoff, and Michigan State fans can look back on three of the most pulsating victories in the program’s history. Michigan State was unable to get to QB Jake Coker, who extended plays to find open receivers.

“I’m really, really proud of our team”, Alabama coach Nick Saban said during a news conference early Friday morning.
Alabama battles Clemson for the National Championship on January 11th, 2016.
All 17 of those points and most of the Sooners’ yards came in the first half as the Tigers recovered from a 17-16 deficit at halftime to pull away for the win.
Quarterback Deshaun Watson turned in another stellar all-around performance, beating Oklahoma with his arm and his legs.
Closing out the non-conference basketball schedule, the Crimson Tide plowed another version, this time on the basketball floor.
Story of the game: Each of the first seven possessions of the game ended in a punt before Jake Coker finally connected with Calvin Ridley on a 50-yard pass play that set up a short Derrick Henry touchdown for the first score of the game.
Swinney and Alabama coach Nick Saban both have been remarkably successful, with 56 and 61 wins, respectively, over the last five years, but are polar opposites in almost every other regard.
This was, by any measure, a memorable year for Michigan State. And any time you have a team that could accomplish a first of that magnitude, it’s truly something special.
Saban’s players love it, and he gives it an even more earnest go at celebrating while egged on by his team.
“Just got to keep the focus we had in preparation for this game”, Coker said.
Alabama linebacker Ryan Anderson praised Clemson following the Crimson Tide’s 38-0 win over Micihgan State.
“When they scored on the opening drive, that was the turning point”, he said.

“It was a great play and I thought a spark that we needed”. They tasted the blood in the water, and we were fortunate some of their key guys were banged up; that probably kept some of their big-play potential out of the game. Alabama has shown that they struggle against a dual dimension quarterbacks in the past; it will be interesting to see whether or not they throw a spy on Watson in hopes of making him through the ball into the defensive backfield. Running behind defensive linemen A’Shawn Robinson and Jarran Reed, Henry punched it in for his SEC-record breaking 24th touchdown, and with 5:36 left in the first half it was 7-0 Tide. And it seemed as if the Tide might try to bubble screen the Spartans into a punt-for-punt death match when, finally, Alabama’s coaches unleashed Coker’s cannon midway through the second quarter. “They have a Heisman-type quarterback, they’ve got a running back who’s very underappreciated, their defense is very underappreciated”.
