Ducks watch big lead disappear in 47-41 loss in 3OT
Co-offensive coordinator Doug Meacham said Thursday the Frogs are leaning toward using senior Bram Kohlhausen at quarterback. “I will never wear black again”.

Adds Patterson: “For me, it doesn’t make any difference which one of them starts”. Now, without him, it’s not a stretch to think TCU could need two or three more stops that it would have before Boykin was arrested. But Tyson Coleman, the outside linebacker whose otherwise stellar pressure all game led to a forced fumble and punt, stayed with the running back on the option and Kohlhausen found an open lane to the end zone once turning the corner. “That’s the disappointing thing, just for the kids, and for him, all of them”.
“You know, we really didn’t do much differently except we tackled”, TCU coach Gary Patterson said.
OR appeared set to run away with the Alamo Bowl, bursting out to a 31-0 lead over TCU. The dual-threat quarterback from Dallas is second nationally with 381 total yards per game, but missed a game in November after awkwardly twisting his right ankle in a win over Kansas.
With Adams, Oregon had one of the best offenses in college football this year.
TCU scored on all of its possessions in the second half and overtime.
TCU quarterback Bram Kohlhausen (6) is lifted by teammate Halapoulivaati Vaitai (74) after he threw a touchdown pass in the first overtime in the Alamo Bowl NCAA college football game against Oregon, Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, in San Antonio. Overcoming a 31-point deficit surpassed the 18-point comeback in 2005 at BYU. “Their quarterback out, get a couple scores, nobody had any doubt”.
TCU was gaining confidence with each play while OR seemed stuck in neutral.
OR takes on TCU in the Alamo Bowl in one of the most exciting bowl matchups of the season.
It reminded one of TCU’s 30-29 loss at Oklahoma when TCU played without an injured Boykin for the enitirety, and OU QB Baker Mayfield couldn’t return for the second half.
With a 24-yard field goal in the third quarter – TCU’s first points of the game – senior kicker Jaden Oberkrom broke the Big 12 record for career field goals held by Oklahoma kicker Michael Hunnicutt (2011-14).
Both teams exchanged touchdowns in the first overtime period, followed by a pair of field goals in the second overtime.
OR came out on fire, scoring 21 points in the first quarter.
OR fan Travis said: “I don’t even know what a horned frog is, to be honest with you. We will continue to closely monitor this and evaluate additional details as they become available”.
The Cactus Bowl made up for its late start with an assault on the record books.
The teams combined for 1,196 yards of offense and the 950 yards passing was the most in the Cactus Bowl’s 27-year history. For today’s bowl game, Freeman has been given an over/under of 142.5 rushing yards.

Patterson, whose squad was ranked No. 2 in the preseason Top 25, also saw the parallel in the season of his team’s bowl opponent. Boykin was really the only chance TCU had at putting up a really solid fight against an OR team that is playing great football coming into this one. As overtime began OR won the toss and opted for Defense first. Brandon Allen threw a touchdown pass while Alex Collins had a huge day on the ground with 185 yards and three touchdowns.
