Operation to secure Indian air base continues: air force

Home Minister Rajnath Singh announced the death of the NSG officer, Lt. Col. Niranjan, saying he was killed in “mopping up operations” in Pathankot. The external affairs ministry, however, did not give details of this unusual meeting and termed it as “diplomatic consultations on Pakistan strategy”.

Odd-even scheme: On Day 1, Delhi’s air quality fluctuates
Unlike yesterday, SAFAR’s hourly average graph of mass concentration of pollutants did not show any upward trend after 2 PM. PM 2.5 are the particulate matter capable of causing harm to human respiration, if present above permissible levels.

“The coordination was done by all the security agencies – Air Force, NSG, Army and the Punjab Police – and all aerial assets were put into place for air surveillance”.

US Calls In Iran, Saudis To Reduce Tensions
Amnesty International criticised Nimr’s arrest for being part of a campaign by the Saudi authorities to quash all dissent. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was “deeply dismayed” by the executions and called again for an end to the death penalty.

Air Commodore Dhamoon stated that one of many jawans on the station even jostled with one of many terrorists and killed him. The firing stopped last night, therefore, we were not sure if all terrorists were killed or not.

Maple Leafs’ William Nylander: Still no updates on injury
After all, Superman is not supposed to bleed, much less get knocked out in front of a sold-out crowd that was maybe 30% Canadian. Just when Team Canada thought they had one up, the goal was reviewed and it seemed inconclusive so it was waved off.

The U.S has always maintained that Pakistan requires to do more to rein in terrorists who target neighbouring countries.

“So, if the terrorists managed to blow up five or six MiGs or Mikoyan helicopter that would heavily dent the IAF capabilities”. But the search would continue before the base was declared safe. Everything is being looked at minutely. Some senior officials of the Punjab Police led by DGP Suresh Arora are also present here.

Security agencies were probing possible local support the terrorists got in the area after sneaking into India from Pakistan on December 30-31.

Union Minister VK Singh also lauded the way the security agencies foiled the terror attack and fought against terrorists in Pathankot.

Indian security officials suspect the gunmen belonged to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed Islamist group. Although the home minister had said on Saturday that thermal imaging technology was being used to track the militants, there was no indication if all militants had been taken out and the operation was over. The first credible report came from within the security establishment; from the superintendent of police whose auto was hijacked by the militants. “They kept firing while running”, he said.

Mehrishi said the combing operation to bring the situation under control is still on. Seventeen security personnel were also injured.

The Pathankot air force base is on the highway that connects India’s insurgency-wracked Jammu and Kashmir state with the rest of the country. Four such helicopters gifted by India to the Afghan National Army were flown from the Pathankot base.

But, India’s next demand is likely to be that Pakistan conduct a probe into the circumstances of this attack and share a credible report with it. The foreign secretary level talks on January 15 are likely to be contingent on Pakistan agreeing to this.

A senior minister in the government, Prakash Javadekar, saidthe process of talks with Pakistan “cannot be destroyed” because of one attack.

“We have issued an alert and are taking precautionary measures”, he said.

India has long maintained terror originating from across the border should stop for the peace talks to deliver.

The attack on India’s Pathankot air base, which on Sunday night was still going on, is only a stage-managed activity produced by the Modi Sarkar itself, regional experts point out.

But that appeared premature on Sunday, as the operation resumed to secure the air base on Sunday, with two gunmen later killed. We congratulate our armed forces that they were able to thwart it with their wisdom and valour. “India is capable of giving a befitting reply to any terror attack”, party secretay Shrikant Sharma said.

BJP pays its tributes to the soldiers killed in the attack, he added.
