Carr closes in on milestones in Raiders finale
There’s nobody left to play, with the playoffs long out of the picture and the AFC West rival Broncos and Chiefs both headed to the postseason. Then, after Carr was picked off in the end zone by the Chiefs’ Ron Parker a few minutes later, Smith tossed another pass that was caught by Amerson and returned 24 yards for a touchdown that got Oakland within 14-10. They beat the Chargers twice, the Denver Broncos once and blew a late lead against Kansas City. 11 wins over 48 games isn’t a record that’s tough to improve on.

While the Chiefs are already in the playoffs and there will be no knocking them out this year, the chance for a road-sweep of the division certainly sends a message these Raiders are going to be a force in the coming yeas. “I just know we have to play this one and everyone is getting ready to do that, and that’s how we’re focused”.
Carr took six sacks, and at least four could have been avoided by throwing the ball away.
A lot of the Raiders inefficient play this year can be explained by something as simple as inexperience. That’s how the statement has become such a cliché, a part of locker room vernacular in just about every sport. His start on Sunday versus the Chiefs will be the 251st of his career. At 7-8, his first year in Oakland has been a success, win or lose Sunday, and with a ton of cash to spend this offseason, it’s hard to imagine this young team not taking a step forward next year. However, I’m more concerned with their victories; So I’m waiting for, and expecting bigger things from this team.
Woodson has talked plenty about what he sees as a bright future for the Raiders and, unlike Del Rio, he thinks Sunday could help positively impact the future. Oakland is going to try to finish the season strong but the Kansas City defense at home will be too much for them to pull off the upset.
Three picks in a row: Quarterbacks Alex Smith and Derek Carr threw interceptions on three consecutive pass attempts in the second quarter. I guess you always want to leave a place better than when you came in. “It’s not where I want to be, I know that”. Dee Ford has been replacing him, but he struggled in last week’s victory over Cleveland.
Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin on Raiders safety Charles Woodson, who retires after a decorated 18-year National Football League career. Woodson is tied for fifth all-time with Ken Riley with 65 career interceptions, and is tied with Rod Woodson and Darren Sharper for the most defensive touchdowns with 13.

Carr needs 207 yards against the Chiefs to join Rich Gannon and Carson Palmer as the only 4,000-yard passers in Raiders history. The 1996 Patriots (Drew Bledsoe, Terry Glenn, Curtis Martin) are the only other team to have three players 25 or under reach those marks in the same season. The team is handled by rookie coach Jack Del Rio, but there’ nothing rookie about this guy. Mayowa recovered a fumble and his 40-yard run-back set up a go-ahead touchdown. “Really, he was the only guy that I thought of like that”.
