Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey parts with team after 2 seasons
The early name to watch in the looming Dolphins G.M. search is director of college scouting Chris Grier.

The Miami Dolphins have had one of the most disappointing seasons in all of the NFL.
The Miami Dolphins have fired Dennis Hickey after two seasons as general manager.
On the coaching search, Ross also said, “We are committed to winning Super Bowls here”.
With the Dolphins finishing 8-8 last season and a present record of 5-10, it was only a matter of time before Hickey was let go.
“I have been blessed to be the general manager of the Miami Dolphins for the last two seasons, and I want to thank Stephen Ross for giving me this opportunity”, Hickey said. But while most teams need to rebuild the product on the field, the Dolphins must rebuild their team off of it. Mike Tannenbaum, named the team’s Executive VP of Football Operations in February, has slowly shifted the culture towards his vision, and will now get a chance to re-shape the sideline of the franchise. “Ultimately the Dolphins and I agreed that it would be best if we parted ways”. The team interviewed interim coach Dan Campbell, however, Campbell is not expected to be back next year. “We talked about a number of different possibilities, but at the end we reached this agreement”, Tannenbaum said. Hickey’s draft choices in 2014 included tackle Ja’Wuan James and receiver Jarvis Landry, both starters, but none of the 2015 picks made major impacts as rookies.

Joe Philbin already took the flack for the poor coaching, after only four games through the season. Coming as a slight surprise, however, the Dolphins opted to relieve him of his duties prior to the team’s season-finale against the New England Patriots Sunday.
