Predictions and 5 things to watch in the Sugar Bowl
Through the years, football coaches who bring their teams to New Orleans have had to concern themselves with making sure their players stay focused in a city known for its nightlife. “The snowmobile started downhill on us in the second quarter and we couldn’t slow them down from big plays on offense, and they started returning trick plays like we did past year in our bowl game”.

“You study film, you play the percentages”, Freeze said.
“It became kind of a runaway train for us”, Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said. “Our kids were very motivated to play with an edge defensively and they heard all of the, you know, negativity they have to go through at certain times this year”. Prior to their recent misfortune, Oklahoma State was in the discussion for the College Football Playoff.
Chad Kelly rushed for a game-high 73 yards in the 2016 Allstate Sugar Bowl.
The SEC improved to 6-2 overall in bowls this season, and the SEC West is 5-1. All together, he accounted for 4,542 yards, which ranks No. 3 in SEC history; better than guys named Tim Tebow and Cam Newton and right behind former Heisman victor Johnny Manziel’s two seasons at Texas A&M.
Ole Miss allowed 3.4 yards per carry this season, better than any of Oklahoma State’s 12 opponents.
Ole Miss was outgained 423-129 by TCU past year, which included only 9 rushing yards. The Rebels reached as high as No. 3 in the AP poll and beat Alabama for the second year in a row, and while they still fell short of a division title, they capped off their 2015 campaign in memorable fashion. Here are the five things to watch in the Sugar Bowl.
“I think anytime you get a throwing team like that, anytime you can stop the run for some reason it just shuts them down”, Ole Miss defensive coordinator Dave Wommack said. Walsh also has 11 TD runs on 67 carries.
Aided by a 23-point second quarter, the Rebels trounced the Cowboys 48-20 to claim the 82nd Sugar Bowl in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Ole Miss closed the season on a three-game winning streak, beating LSU, Mississippi State and then Oklahoma State.
“We gave them a lot of different looks that they haven’t seen on film with some of our three-down stuff”, linebacker C.J. Johnson said. The junior from IL, presumably playing in his last collegiate game (though he has yet to declare his draft intentions), also broke Ole Miss records for single-season receiving yards, touchdowns and receptions to go along with the career receptions mark. The Cowboys gave up a bushel of big plays, didn’t score a touchdown until MS led 41-6 and were basically dominated.
Kelly’s four touchdown passes and Treadwell’s three touchdown catches tied Sugar Bowl records.
Now Kelly, who still has one year of eligibility remaining, has to decide whether or not he will return to Oxford for his senior season.
Maybe the most important question is which QB will the Cowboys run out to start the game?
Cowboys quarterback Mason Rudolph, who is trying to work his way back from a foot injury that required surgery in November, was held to 179 yards passing and was unable to lead his unit into the end zone before he was relieved.
Spread: Ole Miss is favored by 7 points.

The receivers: One of the highlights of this game is that it features two of the nation’s most dynamic receivers in Oklahoma State’s James Washington and Ole Miss’ Laquon Treadwell.
