Browns fire coach Mike Pettine after 3-13 season
“We need to get away from the negativity and get to the point where people are proud of the Cleveland Browns and what the organization stands for”.

While the new Cleveland Browns general manager and coach may want to give Manziel a second chance, he is on thin ice with ownership and other team executives.
General manager Ray Farmer was also axed, only hours after the Browns ended a dismal campaign with a 28-12 home loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“We greatly appreciate Ray’s and Mike’s dedication and hard work while with the Cleveland Browns”, said Haslam, who owns the team along with his wife, Dee. “We do expect a lot out of our players on and off the field, and I’ll just leave it at that”.
Our family is deeply committed to bringing you the winning team you deserve while continuing to try and make a difference in the community. They were 1-5 in the AFC North.
And, in the bigger picture, why are the Browns having to answer these questions for the second year in a row, and how much longer will they have to answer them?
As they trickled out of FirstEnergy Stadium Sunday, many fans were disappointed in the 3-13 record.
Pettine went 3-13 this season and 10-22 in two years, dropping 18 of his final 21 games after a promising 7-4 start in 2014.
Pettine was the team’s seventh full-time coach since 1999.
This time Haslam should hire a general manager before he hires a coach.
Haslam said no interviews had been scheduled but CBS’ Jason La Canfora said the Browns have requested permission to speak with Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase, Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin and Jaguars assistant head coach/offensive line Doug Marrone.
Marrone was the coach of the Buffalo Bills in 2013-14 where he went 15-17.
Chip Kelly qualifies as another name to watch. Imagine a first-time coach, who have all called plays on “their side of the ball” lately, also picking the GM.
Nick Ritrivi has season tickets to see the New York Giants. Bowe was a healthy scratch seven times this season and finished with five catches for 53 yards.
Harbaugh won at least 11 games in three of his four seasons as the 49ers coach and took them to the Super Bowl in the 2012 season. The friction between Farmer and the coaches prompted Shanahan to escape. The report said that Manziel, who sustained his head injury while rushing for 108 yards last week against Kansas City, ate at a restaurant in the casino and sat down at a blackjack table. Nevertheless, His two seasons still leave the Browns without a guaranteed starter for next season. Meanwhile, Pettine experienced some lapses in clock management. This isn’t about Pettine and Farmer. The team fired Mike Pettine after two years on the job. Farmer was not included in the process.
And then owner Jimmy Haslam held a press conference. Cornerback Justin Gilbert and Manziel have yet to live up to the hype. The Browns have hired Korn Ferry, an executive search firm, to assist with a quest that’s been as perplexing for Cleveland’s front office as the one for a franchise quarterback.
Pettine added that a player in the protocol is not required to travel with the team.
ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi even reports Manziel showed up at the facilities this week “inebriated”. The Browns hold the No. 2 pick behind the Tennessee Titans and the No. 32 pick.

The 2015-2016 season ends with more losses. His signature move was a disaster, signing receiver Dwayne Bowe in March to a two-year contract that included $9 million guaranteed.
