Speaking about the visit of Modi, Sharif said, “The Indian Prime Minister came to Lahore and gave us his few hours”.
“Yet the Obama administration should resist any urge to intervene directly in the talks”, Fontaine said, adding that Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif will seek general worldwide support, but they do not require an American mediator.
Where Modi’s visit appeared to be a goodwill gesture in revitalising the tense relations between the two countries, many are criticising its “surprise and private” nature.
Nawaz Sharif said that it was not only his responsibility to get Pakistan out of crisis rather the whole political spectrum would have to play its role in making peaceful and progressive Pakistan.
Terming India and Pakistan as brothers, noted Urdu poet Munnawar Rana has suggested that prime ministers of both the countries should discuss the disputes in presence of their mothers for a definite resolution.
