As much of the world has gone mobile, so has NORAD Track Santa.

Peek behind the scenes at the military’s Santa-tracking operation at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colo. with USA TODAY reporter Trevor Hughes. And on Christmas Eve, they won’t miss a minute of Santa’s journey as you visit relatives.
In 1958, the US and Canada formed NORAD, but the tradition continued, thanks to numerous sponsors and volunteers who, at first, manned phone lines, but who now manage the website and social media pages by which Santa can be tracked.
Santa Claus is coming to town, and for the 60th consecutive year, the North American Aerospace Defense Command will continue its tradition of telling youngsters the location of Kris Kringle on his annual storybook world tour. Instead of turning the calls away, the director of operations, Colonel Harry Shoup, had his staff provide radar-tracked updates of Santa’s location.
The website is available in eight languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Chinese. It originally started in 1955 when a newspaper offered a phone number for children to call and find out exactly where Santa was at that exact time. How can he move so fast and deliver so many presents?
People dressed as Santa Claus gather in Brooklyn’s McCarren Park during the SantaCon 2015 in New York City December 12, 2015, the 21st anniversary of the event that sees hundreds of people dress as Father Christmas.
NORAD will once again help you keep track of his route just to make sure there are no problems.

You have the option of tracking Santa via 3-D video rendering or on a 2-D map, or watching movies from Santa’s initial launch and some of his more well-known stops. If you have an Android device, you can track Santa’s path on the official Google app, which is also compatible with Chromecast for users who want to view the tracker from their TVs.
