New York Giants: Players to Watch Versus the Philadelphia Eagles
Coughlin, who right up until the end did everything he could to deflect any attention from his situation – he informed the media that he would not discuss a Fox Sports report claiming he planned to “ride off into the sunset” and retire – was mostly upbeat, though disappointed over how a promising season went so horribly awry. “To be honest, this is the 16th game of the season and that’s where I’m focused”, Coughlin said”.

“Finishing the game has been an issue all year for us and we’ve talked about it, we’ve worked on it – I switched the two-minute drills around in practice to try and make it more of an emphasis – and we’re still working on it”.
“We wanted to go out there, we wanted to win, we wanted to play well”, said Manning, who has never played for any other National Football League head coach. It doesn’t appear that any final decisions have been made, but you’d expect NY to play hard today for the coach that led them to two Super Bowl victories. Manning threw touchdown passes of 9 yards to Will Tye and 45 to Rueben Randle.
DeMarco Murray ran 54 yards for a touchdown on the fifth play for the Eagles.
Leading 35-30 with 1:43 to play, the Eagles needed one final defensive stand to preserve their seventh win in a mostly lost season. Quarterback Eli Manning, celebrating his 35th birthday on Sunday, was solid in unspectacular, throwing for 302 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Rashad Jennings rushed for 116 of his 170 yards in the first half, including a two-yard scoring run with 13 ticks left to draw the Giants within 21-20 at the intermission.
The Eagles had an opportunity to knock the breath out of the Giants on the next series, but Bradford aired a deep throw just off the hand of Riley Cooper, who was single-covered, on third-and-eight. No matter what he said, it seemed like a finale on Sunday. He’s the one who drafted me and gave me a chance. And while Coughlin downplayed that and said everyone was in town for their annual holiday dinner, he spent a lot of time with them all in the back of the news conference room after he was done with the media, and there were many hugs shared and tears shed before the group broke up.
“If [the new coach] feels like I fit and I feel like I fit, that’s it”, Bradford explained. “Do I want to come back?” he said. Whether he gets his wish remains to be seen. He spent 10 years as an Eagles assistant previously (1999-2008), before coming back in 2013 as Kelly’s offensive coordinator. They averaged 6.7 penalties in the previous 15 games. He finished three yards short of 1,000 receiving yards.
The Eagles opened the game with their quick-strike offense. Last week against the Vikings, Manning was 15-for-29 with one touchdown and three interceptions.
In total, Coughlin coached 191 games for Big Blue before Sunday’s game, and he’s won 102.
NOTES: Odell Beckham returned from a one-game suspension and had five catches for 54 yards….Ertz led the Eagles with nine catches for 152….Giants S Brandon Meriweather left the game with a knee injury and his replacement Trumaine McBride had a concussion….Eagles WR Nelson Agholor left with a concussion….

It will be interesting to see how Shurmur calls this game given his team has been running Kelly’s offense all season long. Moss set his record in 32 games; Beckham in 26.
