Krul lauds under-pressure Van Gaal

Wayne Rooney and David De Gea are among the players who’ve been reacting online after Manchester United beat Swansea City 2-1 at Old Trafford this afternoon. It worked; the pair were the best players on the pitch, with Young crossing for the Martial’s opening goal and Martial crossing for Wayne Rooney’s victor.

“They were two well-worked goals and to see your two strikers get on the score sheet is good”, he said.

United fans have regularly chanted “attack, attack, attack” at the team while they slowly build from the back.

Van Gaal’s demand that all departments work at United transparently and within the clear lines he has laid out is said to have particular appeal to the club hierarchy.

Martial powerfully headed United’s opener from a Young cross two minutes into the second half, the France international’s eighth goal of the season, and after Gylfi Sigurdsson had glanced Swansea level, Rooney skilfully flicked home the victor from the behind his body with the instep of his left foot to claim his first league goal since October from a Martial assist as the pair scored together in a game for the first time.

“But unfortunately it went wide and we lost the game”.

It is believed they would only change course if there was a further slide in results. “That is why I am happy we scored the two handsome goals”. We did that today and then, in the second half, they exhausted because we really did press them. It is also the first time Van Gaal has avoided losing to the Welsh club since he took over as manager at the start of last season.

United’s next game is an FA Cup third round tie against third-tier Sheffield United on Saturday.

One player whose name keeps coming up when discussing United targets is Southampton’s Sadio Mane and it seems the Senegalese winger may be moving closer to a deal to tale him Old Trafford. That is why I am proud they can do it under this pressure.

Van Gaal hadn’t seen United win since November 21, during which time the team slipped out of the Champions League and the Premier League’s top four to leave the Dutchman’s position under threat. An Aleksandar Kolarov own goal gave the home side the lead and looked good to hold on to it and get three more points.

Having made most of his appearances as a full-back for United this season, the England global was restored to his favoured role as a winger in an unconventional 3-2-4-1 system adopted by Louis van Gaal in the 2-1 win.
