PlayStation Network is experiencing a global outage, Sony confirmed on Monday (4 January 2016). Although outages on PSN are common, this one appears more severe affecting all server-oriented systems of PS4, PS3, and PS Vita.

You may have some difficulty streaming PlayStation Now games. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience. If you’re already signed in to PSN, you may be able to get into some online features.

As soon as PlayStation gamer tries to log in, they are greeted with an error message that PSN is undergoing maintenance. “Why do we take down PSN and Xbox Live?” the group said in another tweet.

While a network blackout is an unfortunate event at any time, it’s occurred during a particularly bad window for Sony what with the company’s CES press conference slated for tomorrow.
