Reports also say that police officers whom the SP had informed about the terrorists initially did not may heed to his statements, leading to the operation being delayed by almost 15 hours.

“The attack on Pathankot air base from Kashmiri Mujhadeen carries a message to India that no security establishment and garrison are out of reach from militants”. Gen. Dushyant Singh, from India’s elite National Security Guard, told reporters. Kirby said the United States has for a long time talked about the continued safe haven issues there between Afghanistan and Pakistan and certainly between India and Pakistan. Sources said that the control should have been transferred to the Division Commander of the Indian Army who is posted there, more so as “the place is controlled by the military, and it made just no sense whatsoever to place the NSG in command”.

The US has said it expects Pakistan to act in bringing to justice the perpetrators of the Pathankot attack and asked Islamabad to live up to its pledge that it will not “discriminate” among terror groups.
