Raiders notebook: Wild sequence ends up pointless for Chargers
Woodson’s retirement may coincide with the end of the Raiders in Oakland as the franchise could relocate to Los Angeles next season – which is also where the Chargers are likely to be playing.

The Oakland Raiders’ clash against the San Diego Chargers on tonight could be their last home game in Oakland, but Mayor Libby Schaaf said Wednesday that she thinks fans should “keep the faith” that the football team will stay in her city.
“It’s been a joy for me to come back and play here for a second time around”, Said Woodson, who took one snap on offense in overtime and was stopped for 3-yard loss on a run-pass option. Woodson got a loud ovation as he was introduced last with the defensive starters and was the only Oakland captain for the pregame coin toss. They just said, “We need somebody, ‘ so I said, ‘If you need me, I’m ready to go.’ Just let me know what you need me to do.'” In his regular job, Inman started for the injured Stevie Johnson and caught eight passes for 82 yards and a touchdown. “One thing I’ll tell those guys when I talk to them is if it’s the last game here in Oakland, make it the best”.
Thursday wasn’t the prettiest display of football, and the overtime showcased that.
The decision to take those three points off the board will cause some second-guessing in San Diego.
Raiders passer DEREK CARR (24 of 39 for 209 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 pick) distributed his passes to nine different offensive skill position players, and he needed all those players’ efforts to help the Raiders win this game. “The offense has the ability to beat you, the defense can beat you, and the special teams can definitely make an impact”. Instead, Woodson tucked the ball and took a three-yard loss. Ultimately, Oakland went 67 yards downfield and had a few shots in the endzone before being forced to kick a chip shot 31-yard field goal by Sebastian Janikowski. And then it did.
It set up a 3-yard scoring pass from Derek Carr to Michael Crabtree, with Carr then hitting Seth Roberts for a two-point conversion and a 20-17 lead.
Philip Rivers, along with the Chargers defense, played a fantastic game. Chargers starting LT King Dunlap (ankle) missed his second straight game.
The Chargers tied it with Lambo’s 45-yarder with 1 minute remaining to send it to overtime.
The latest defeat by the San Diego Chargers was a microcosm of their down season.
The next play, Rivers went deep to Ladarius Green for an apparent touchdown, but a replay review ruled it incomplete for hitting the ground.
The Chargers also added a field goal before the half to grab a 17-10 lead. They are competing with the St. Louis Rams for one or two spots in the huge television market.

The Chargers built a 17-10 halftime lead, but Oakland sliced it to 17-12 when defensive end Denico Autry sacked Rivers in the end zone for a safety with 2:11 left in the third quarter. Although this was Carr’s only touchdown of the game, he scored when it mattered most.
