The system has now “cumulatively sold through” more than 35.9 million units globally as of January 3, 2016. Sony seems to be running into the same old problems.

Thousands of PS4 gamers are not very happy at the moment because PlayStation Network is down and undergoing maintenance. The PlayStation Network was brought to its knees just a couple of years ago due to insidious hackers, resulting in weeks worth of empty downtime for gamers.
Adding to its success, the company notes that 60 percent more users subscribed to its PlayStation Plus service at the end of 2015, compared to the same time past year.
Most of the big online gaming services skated through the holiday/New Year’s traffic rush unscathed (sorry, Steam), but PlayStation Network is having some trouble on January 4, the first day back from the long NYE weekend. This led to the servers being down from April 20 and May 15 as Sony tried to secure the breach, which put the sensitive personal data for over 100 million customers at risk. One of the most infamous outages occurred when the network’s servers experienced a Christmas attack from the hacker group known as the Lizard Squad in 2014 which rendered all services to be inaccessible.
The official PSN Twitter account has not made any statement about the outage since a status update Monday, when the network was still off.
“I get asked a lot on why we do this?” “Because cyber security does not exist”.
As expected, Sony has revealed that the PS4 did quite well during the 2015 holiday season around the world. As per the publication, the account management down to the network’s gaming and social features were down.

The good news is that there are a couple of great single player titles that are available at the moment and it should keep players busy, at least until Sony fixes PSN.
