LG Display unveils new roll-up flexible screen
LG put up an 18-inch display for testing, but the company also said that they are aiming to go for 55-inch flexible displays and beyond, according to reports.

LG will also have a separate zone for its work in the automotive display market, which will include a 25-inch “waterfall” curved LCD display for cars.
LG Display is betting big on OLED and flexible displays for the future and the company is showcasing an 18-inch display prototype that you can bend and roll at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.
The OEM first announced the technology in 2014 which, by then, is only 3 cm across with 1,200 x 810p resolution, reported Engadget.
In May, the company, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of LG, showed off a proof-of-concept television known as “wallpaper”. The use cases for this kind of display can range from being a rollable tablet to a rollable newspaper. That means we can expect higher resolution for the display at CES 2016, but for now, we don’t know what exactly to expect, and hope to hear more information at the CES proper itself.
The waffer-thin screen is so flexible that it can actually be rolled as tightly as a piece of paper without damaging any of the tech inside.
The technological leap which LG Display has made with the introduction of the fully-flexible roll-up display is rooted in the company’s evident advancement from LED TVs to OLED TVs.
It also has hologram and projector features that can display 3D images onto other surfaces.
“We design with one principle in mind, and that is, eliminate the unnecessary”, William Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics USA, told a crowd here on Tuesday.
“LG Display has been sharing successful solutions with its customers by meeting the maker’s requirements and demand with its differentiated technology”.

The result is a TV set that is either 65 inches or 77 inches wide diagonally, but which practically disappears when viewed from the side, as it’s about a one-tenth of an inch thick.
