Police told WXIA that the suspect stabbed himself in the neck and is now in critical condition.

Eleven children and a woman are safe after surviving a domestic dispute and five-hour hostage standoff.

A woman and 11 children ranging in age from 3 months to 17 years old were inside the room and Thomas would not allow anyone to leave, Fore said. Police allege that Korrie Thomas, 36, refused to come outside of the hotel room when police responded to a domestic assault call.

No one else in the room was injured. They negotiated with him without success and eventually SWAT stormed the room. Police said it’s unclear if the man is armed, but he is communicating with authorities.

Thomas is being charged with false imprisonment and obstruction.

Jail records did not list any attorney for Thomas.

The relationship between Thomas, the woman and children was not immediately clear, police said.
