6 injured in 23-car crash on Interstate 5 north of Seattle

At least 23 vehicles were involved in the semi-truck crash on I-5, according to Trooper Mark Francis.

Two men, both 21, were killed in a drive-by shooting early Saturday on I-5 in Mount Vernon, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Authorities say a tractor-trailer hauling gravel was traveling southbound near Mount Vernon Saturday morning when it crossed the median and drove into stopped cars going the other direction. Seven people were hurt and the injuries range from minor to critical.

The truck driver had a broken arm and chest injuries, and may have had a medical condition that caused the crash, Francis told KING-TV. “So much dirt, it was like a sand storm”.

Washington State Patrol confirms two victims suffered fatal gunshot wounds in their auto, near Interstate 5’s College Way exit, shortly before 4 a.m. A third person was able to escape.
