North Korea’s nuke test ‘serious threat’ to Japan: Abe
In a statement, the ministry calls on “all interested sides to preserve maximum restraint and to not take actions that could rouse the uncontrolled growth of tensions in Northeast Asia”. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan has said this was a “serious threat” to the safety of his nation.

Speaking in Beijing, Britain s foreign secretary Philip Hammond said the test was “a grave breach of UN Security Council resolutions and a provocation”.
The closed-door morning talks between the 15 member nations were called by the United Nations and Japan.
“This suggests that unless North Korea has had help from outside experts, it is unlikely that it has really achieved a hydrogen/fusion bomb since its last nuclear test, just short of three years ago”.
South Korean and Japanese officials have called emergency meetings. In a hydrogen bomb, radiation from a nuclear fission explosion sets off a fusion reaction responsible for a powerful blast and radioactivity. Lee sits on the parliament’s intelligence committee.
Some analysts say the North hasn’t likely achieved the technology needed to manufacture a miniaturized warhead that could fit on a long-range missile capable of hitting the USA mainland.
South Korean officials detected an “artificial earthquake” near North Korea’s main nuclear testing site on Wednesday, a strong indication that the nuclear-armed country had conducted its fourth atomic test. “It’s also a direct challenge to world peace and stability”. Any emissions could take several days to detect and analyse.
Q. What does the new test mean in terms of North Korea’s nuclear development?
Despite the claim from the isolated country, nuclear experts have not shown complete confidence on the announcement.
An announcer described the test, the first since 2013, as a “perfect success”.
Hydrogen bombs are more powerful than plutonium weapons.
– Scepticism over H-bomb – ============================ “This weapon was probably the size of the US Hiroshima bomb but this was not a hydrogen bomb”.
In Washington, the White House would not confirm the test, but vowed to “respond appropriately to any and all North Korean provocations”.
North Korea said Wednesday that it conducted the H-bomb test, a move that would put the country closer to improving its limited nuclear arsenal.
“Now, the government should closely cooperate with the worldwide community to make sure that North Korea pays the corresponding price for the nuclear test” Park said in a National Security Council meeting at Cheong Wa Dae, South Korea’s presidential office.
Pyongyang’s state-run KCNA made a noon announcement that was also broadcast in South Korea, stating that the historic test had been carried out at 10 a.m. local time (0100GMT) under the orders of leader Kim Jong-un – who last month warned for the first time that his country was “ready to detonate a self-reliant H-bomb”.
Bringing new punitive measures against Pyongyang may prove hard, after years of extensive sanctions on North Korean entities and the need for coordination among regional actors with conflicting interests.
Some people raised their hands and applauded.
North Korea previously carried out tests on nuclear devices in 2006, 2009 and 2013.

One of the major themes of the early part of China’s nuclear program is how committed China was to matching the other nuclear powers in the possession of intercontinental-range ballistic missiles armed with multi-megaton thermonuclear weapons.
