Nuclear test causes tremor around North Korea
In the longer term, North Korea should return to long-stalled six-nation denuclearization talks hosted by China, Hua said.

“Japan will firmly respond to this, including at the UN Security Council, in cooperation with the United States, South Korea, China and Russian Federation”.
Several UN resolutions ban the reclusive North from any nuclear activity or ballistic missile technology.
South Korea on Wednesday issued a statement condemning North Korea for testing a hydrogen bomb and pledging to take all necessary measures against North Korea.
South Korean officials earlier detected an “artificial earthquake” near North Korea’s main nuclear test site.
Hammond, who is visiting China, said in a statement that he discussed the matter with his Chinese counterpart, Yang Jiechi.
Hammond said he would also speak Wednesday with his Japanese and South Korean counterparts.
The test site is only about 90 km (55 miles) from the border with China, and residents there said they felt tremors at the time. Lee sits on the parliament’s intelligence committee. It ensures that North Korea will be a key topic during the USA presidential campaign. “We must respond decisively through measures such as strong worldwide sanctions”.
South Korea’s defence ministry said that it was bolstering its security posture in response.
Canrong said the test was likely aimed at spelling out to the North Korean public that “the young leader [Kim] is strong, that the country is strong”. “I am convinced it will have repercussions on North Korea and global peace and stability”.
The development illustrates the continuing challenge North Korea poses to its neighbors and the world. Pyongyang’s propaganda apparatus argues-and this is what Kim was saying-that North Korea is a technological powerhouse. Analysts had raised the possibility that should the North conduct another test, it would test a uranium-based bomb or a “boosted fission” bomb. This program has yielded three nuclear tests.
One of the people in the plaza, Kim Sok Chol, 32, told The Associated Press that he doesn’t know much about H-bombs, but added that “Since we have it the USA will not attack us”.
Just like its 2013 test had engendered great condemnation from the UN Security Council, world authorities are expected to speak out again this time.
Speaking to The Washington Post, former U.S. diplomat and North Korea specialist Joel Wit said: “If this was the fourth North Korean nuclear test, its exact objective – whether to develop smaller nuclear warheads for missiles or higher-yield bombs – remains unclear”.

Jang was ousted from power for “perpetrating anti-party, counter-revolutionary factional acts in a bid to overthrow the leadership”, the government announcement said.
North Korea says it’s successfully tested a hydrogen bomb.
The North called the device the “H-bomb of justice” and said: “The U.S.is a gang of cruel robbers which has worked hard to bring even a nuclear disaster to the DPRK”, using the official acronym for North Korea.

North Korea announced in December 2013 that Jang, vice chairman of the powerful National Defense Commission, had been executed as “a traitor”.
