Leicester City determined to stay in the title race, says Wes Morgan

Leicester City’s captain, Wes Morgan, is looking for his side to stay positive and build on their remarkable first half of the Premier League season, which leaves them second only on goal difference.

But Ranieri’s team silenced their critics with another superb performance as they more than held their own against City, and the coach said he was pleased with how they bounced back.

Their gritty determined display at home to Manchester City yielded a well-earned point which leaves Leicester joint top level on points with Arsenal at the halfway stage.

However, Ranieri believes that Bournemouth will pose the toughest test of the lot despite the Cherries being just three points clear of the relegation zone.

“We have played everyone now and we have showed we are more than capable of playing up there with the best of them”, he said. “We didn’t allow them to create options for players like Mahrez and Vardy that are in a very good moment”. Prior to these games, Leicester had scored in every league match, with only one loss to their name. Now is not important for me to talk about the window market – we have a very good squad with good mentality.

Ranieri said: “It’s not easy for us, but we want to fight with everybody”.

The uncertainty of the Premier league has reached new heights this season and with nearly half of it still remaining we can be sure to expect the unexpected.

By matching a star-studded side which has won two of the last four league titles, Leicester City continue to defy Premier League giants in what some have called a “miraculous” campaign.

“We are a solid team and we want to continue together with everybody”.

The Italian manager also expressed his delight at the unexpected turn of events this season: “This league is very insane…nobody wants to win the league”.

Manchester City on the other hand aren’t that far off the top of the table themselves, now sitting in fourth with a game in hand on most of the competition.

Leicester City host Bournemouth on 2 January, while Manchester City travel to Watford.
