The State Department noted that the USA considered Pyongyang’s pursuit of an H-bomb a “national threat” and urged the global community to “unify” in response.
Pyongyang has been under U.N. Security Council sanctions due to its nuclear weapons program since it first tested an atomic device in 2006.
The UN Security Council agreed Wednesday to prepare further unspecified measures against North Korea after it have carried out a fourth nuclear test.

He negotiated with the North Koreans for four years and is disappointed to see what has happened.
The US State Department confirmed North Korea had conducted a nuclear test but the Obama administration disputed the hydrogen bomb claim.
North Korea is thought to have a handful of rudimentary nuclear bombs and has spent decades trying to flawless a warhead small enough to place on a missile that can reach the US.
“North Korea must have no doubt that we will take whatever steps are necessary to defend ourselves and our treaty allies, South Korea and Japan“, said Clinton, according to the Mail. The acting leader of the Labor opposition, Penny Wong, said the testing of a hydrogen bomb would be “a clear and serious violation” of United Nations security council resolutions.
“By now, the extensive independent analysis that’s been done in the United States and in other countries that includes significant and understandable skepticism about the claims of the North Korean regime”, said spokesman Josh Earnest said.

As far as how the United States would confront North Korea’s latest provocation, Earnest vowed that President Barack Obama would continue to advance the U.S. interests “through principled, focused, tenacious, diplomatic engagement”.
