The west Londoners had hoped that with Pep Guardiola announcing his departure at the end of the season could persuade the forward to follow suit.

“I haven’t had offers yet, I can’t say anything more for the moment”.

“I’m still young and I need new challenges”, said Guardiola, who turns 45 later this month.

With Bayern in the running for Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League success, Muller backed Guardiola to keep standards high.

Luring Pep Guardiola from German outfit and league leaders Bayern Munich may not be as hard as first thought as Manchester may have what the Spaniard is looking for… He found a new position for me.

The three-way fight between Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea for Pep Guardiola appears to have become a two-way struggle today, with the Old Trafford club reported to have conceded defeat. If he was available, I’m sure many big clubs would be interested in signing him. I am very grateful to Bayern for this huge opportunity.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is a keen admirer of the former Barcelona manager and is desperate to secure his services regardless of the price.

Manchester City do not seem to be particularly happy with Manuel Pellegrini’s performance this season, and the Chilean could be gone after this season.

Guardiola has made it clear that three years is long enough for him at a club and that’s certainly long enough for him to create a legacy no matter where he goes.

At the end of the day, I think it is safe to say that Guardiola is a better manager than Pellegrini, and that on paper, swapping Pellegrini for Guardiola would be a significant improvement.

Chelsea are now 13 points below the Champions League places in the Premier League after a dismal season to date. “The reason I have not extended my contract is simple”.

There have also been rumours that Manchester City would is trying to reunite Guardiola and FC Barcelona player Lionel Messi at the Etihad.
