The Price for the Oculus Rift Virtual Reality Headset: $599
While the pre-order page did originally list the Oculus Rift shipping date as March 2016, a refresh of the store page now shows an expected ship date of April 2016 instead.

In the box you’ll get the Rift headset with built-in headphones and mic, sensor for positional tracking, an Xbox One controller and the Oculus Remote.
Bundles that include a powerful computer needed to use the device will be available for pre-order in February starting at US$1499. The company previously said it wanted to ship the Rift at-cost to make sure that the headset sees wide adoption. That high price point will limit the possible audience, but presumably it will become more affordable over time.
After years of waiting, Oculus Rift is now available to pre-order.
All pre-order will include a spot on the pre-order list for the Oculus Touch controller to be released in the latter part of 2016. Early on, Oculus is limiting one Oculus Rift per customer.
There is, however, two free games bundled in under the $600 price tag: Lucky’s Tale and CCP Games’ acclaimed dogfighting sim EVE: Valkyrie. What’s more, over 20 of those games will be exclusive to the Rift platform. That’s been well and truly missed, but you have to wonder how much the Rift kit’s accessories have played a factor in the higher-than-expected pricing. Luckey also said that Rift preorders won’t require any kind of payment, letting buyers cancel them up until they ship.

Oculus CEO Palmer Luckey will field questions-and likely many complaints about the Rift’s price-during an “Ask Me Anything” session on Reddit at 9 p.m. ET tonight.
