Mobile US adds 2.1 mln customers in Q4
Our checks have suggested that total industry gross adds in Q4 were softer than Q4 2014, but TMUS has been able to generate 1.29MM postpaid net adds (vs. 1.28MM a year-ago) by mitigating customer churn, which is down 27 basis points year-on-year. The company reported postpaid net customer additions of 1.3 million, and 917,000 and 469,000 net additions in postpaid phone and prepaid customers, respectively.

“For full-year 2015, the company [recorded] 4.5 million branded postpaid net customer additions, well above the revised guidance for branded postpaid net customer additions of 3.8 [million] to 4.2 million provided in connection with the third quarter of 2015 earnings”, T-Mobile said.
T-Mobile US maintained its momentum in the final quarter of 2015, adding 2.1 million customers, bringing its customer base up to 63.3 million in total.
In a December 29, 2015, blog post, John Legere, T-Mobile’s CEO (chief executive officer) and president, highlighted the propagation benefits of the extended-range LTE network versus coverage on the mid-band spectrum.
While some of those figures showed a decline in year-over-year subscriber growth, they still exceeded expectations, Evercore ISI analysts wrote in a research note.
T-Mobile US finally overtook Sprint during the three months to 30 June.
Shares of T-Mobile are down 0.94% to $39.84 in late morning trading on Wednesday amid an overall market sell-off after China’s currency weakened and North Korea claimed it tested a hydrogen bomb, Reuters reports.
