Chelsea’s Diego Costa and Oscar had to be restrained during training on Wednesday after Oscar made “a particularly strong tackle” on the forward, Sky Sports reports.

Reports claimed the duo had to be separated by shocked team-mates after an altercation on Thursday, which was prompted by a heavy challenge from the Brazil worldwide.

The incident happened in what has been described as a “highly competitive” training session at the club’s Cobham base.

Costa and Oscar have been among the Blues’ most disappointing players so far, although they have looked much improved since the appointment of interim manager Guus Hiddink.

Radamel Falcao has had his thigh injury assessed by Monaco – and could now cut short his year-long Chelsea loan and return to the Ligue 1 side for the rest of the season.

Striker Falcao, who endured a awful season at Manchester United last term, has scored one goal in 11 appearances since joining Chelsea in the summer.

Press Association Sport understands Falcao has recently rejected approaches from Mexican and Turkish clubs.

Prior to his time in England, Falcao was regarded as one of the best strikers in the world following prolific spells at Atletico, Porto and River Plate.
