Browns interview Bears’ Adam Gase first for coaching job

The 37-year old Gase is reportedly scheduled to meet with the Browns and Dolphins later this week. Before the Eagles met with Gase, they interviewed in house candidates Pat Shurmur and Duce Staley.

While it is nice that the Browns finally got Gase in the building for a formal interview, they are facing competition for a coordinator who worked successfully for two years with Peyton Manning in Denver – probably not that hard – but also with Jay Cutler in Chicago – a more daunting task.

Tebow appeared to have shown considerable improvement during his preseason stint with the Eagles, video of which would be at Gase’s disposal if he were to take the Eagles job.

If the rumors are true, letting Gase go without an acceptance may prove to be a huge mistake for the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Browns are scheduled to talk with a handful of other candidates including Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin and Dallas Cowboys secondary coach Jerome Henderson.

Philadelphia was apparently impressed by Bears coordinator Adam Gase.

A statement from Buccaneers co-chairman Joel Glazer said, “This decision was hard on a variety of levels”. Adam Gase is a top head coaching candidate, and he is likely to have a team picked by the end of next week. In quarterback Ryan Tannehill, the Dolphins have a young leader who they believe can lead them to a Super Bowl. He was 84-66 in nine seasons with Chicago.

Gase interviewed with the Eagles on Tuesday.
