Nalgonda Kidney Racket has International Links: SP

Nalgonda: The Nalgonda police cracked the illegal global kidney transplantation racket and arrested four persons involved in it.

The youth has been identified as Kasaparaju Suresh (22), who is now pursuing a hotel management course in Hyderabad.

An unemployed youth from Godavarigudem in Nalgonda district sold out his kidney to a donor for 5 lakh rupees a year ago and turned to an agent to the kingpins of an International Kidney racket for lavish life.

The Telangana Police share details of the alleged racket on Wednesday.

All the donors were taken to Ahamedabad in Gujaat to conduct the tests before proceeding to Colombo. They, then sold the kidneys for as high as Rs. 25 lakh but paid the victims Rs. 5 lakh minus expenses. Suresh was able to lure almost 15 donors, who, seeing the lavish lifestyle of this son of a daily wage labour, agreed to donate their kidneys. They used social media and whatsapp to scout for business. Clients allegedly had to pay Rs 27 lakh for each kidney; the hospital kept almost half the money and the rest went to agents as commissions, and funds for tests, travel and accommodation. All three were young donors.Hafeez’s family was unable to understand how the youngster, despite quitting his job, was able to afford a auto. These include four from Nalgonda district, four from Hyderabad, four from Bangalore, two from Tamil Nadu and one each from Delhi and Mumbai. Apart from Suresh Police have arrested donors from Nalgonda. Through this website, he travelled to Colombo with the help of an agent who also sent the patient to a hospital in Colombo during the month of December 2014. When they questioned him, he confessed that he had sold off one kidney, through Kasparaju.

The accused have been booked under relevant sections of IPC and AP Transplantation of Human Organs Act.

The report also adds that all these transplants were carried out in three major Colombo hospitals: Nawalok Hospital, Western Hospital, and Lankan Hospital.
