Three Palestinians, brothers Ahmed and Mohammed Kawasbeh and their cousin Ala Kawasbeh, were shot dead by Israeli soldiers at an Israeli checkpoint in the occupied West Bank near the city of Hebron.

According to the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), there were 369 attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians from January 2015 to July 27, averaging more than 12 each week.

Four Palestinians were killed Thursday when Israeli soldiers shot them dead in two separate incidents in the West Bank. A military spokeswoman told AFP that all three were killed.

The Israeli military said three Palestinians wielding knives rushed at troops Thursday evening at the Gush Etzion junction near Jerusalem, prompting the soldiers to open fire, killing two of them.

During that time, 27 Israelis have been killed by the ostensibly random violence and more than 100 Palestinians have been killed while in the act of an assault.

Also stoking the violence has been Muslim opposition to stepped-up Israeli access to Jerusalem’s al Aqsa mosque complex, the third holiest site in Islam, which is revered in Judaism as a vestige of two biblical temples.

The charges follow a drawn-out investigation in a case that fueled months of Israeli-Palestinian violence. There were three Israeli fatalities as a result of these attacks, compared with 10 the month before, according to Israel Radio.

The Palestinians say it stems from frustration over almost 50 years of occupation, failed peace talks and continued Israeli settlement construction.
